About B.S. Movement

B.S. Movement is a NYC based dance company co-directed by Bryan Strimpel and Shaina Branfman. Making its premiere in DANCENOW at Joe's Pub in 2012 the company has performed in the festival every year since. As the selected 'Challenge Winner' for 2014 they were the company-in-residence at DANCENOW SteelSacks and Silo. They have also shown work at Hundred Grand SoHo, Red Hook Fest, Detroit Music Hall, and the Wave Rising Series.

The company invests in an understanding for a specific movement language, utilizing a respect for gravity and a strong will to defy it. This shared knowledge is the foundation for their quest to continually create a perceivable human experience through life's innate commonality; movement. The company offers technique classes for dancers, as well as Movement Relationship Workshop designed for everyone. The workshop practices an appreciation and respect for how the experience of living manifests in our physicality. With this knowledge we can become aware of our tendencies, and how they affect our relationship to ourselves and to others. B.S. Movement strives to reignite the idea of community through movement, and holds this belief within every aspect of the company's work.
